How to Start a New Student and Parent | Resources for New Parents or Teachers

Recently the Teach Suzuki Podcast broadcast an episode about how I start a new student and parent. In this episode, I explore the idea of parent education and how that might fit within the studio program. I also discussed my 5-point lesson plan for Pretwinkle students and some basic types of activities that I might teach and games that I might include.

Here is the link to listen to that episode: Episode 176: How to Start a New Student and Parent.

To celebrate the start of a new season of music studio teaching, I am a list of resources to guide parents and teachers on the Suzuki journey, which include episodes related to Suzuki parent education and two short films that describe my book, The Twinkle Project.

The following two short films thoughtfully describe my book The Twinkle Project and explain why I wrote the book and what the book is about. The films include delightful pictures of students and parents to illustrate the importance of the material contained within the book.

The book is being offered at a 20% discounted price through September 2 (Labor Day). To claim the 20% discount, enter the code fall2019 at the final checkout.

In addition to the book, here is a list of Suzuki parent education resources on the podcast:

Music Listening Resource List

I would like to recommend a list of some of my favorite recording collections of various composers. I have been using these recordings for many years now as part of my daily listening, and these recordings are particularly helpful in several ways:
  • For parents who seek to add more classical music to their children’s lives
  • For teachers who want to introduce their students to various composers
  • For students who want to study different styles of music
I have compiled a list of these recordings, and I am happy to note that they are still available at very inexpensive prices. Please note that I own all of these recordings and have listened to them for years now. The links below are affiliate links, meaning that I will get a credit when you purchase any of these items using the links I have provided below. The cost does not increase to you, however, it provides me with an opportunity to get some benefit from having taken the time to compile this list. If you would like to learn more, please see the disclaimer at the bottom of this article, which explains in more detail my motivation.

My compilation started with a gift of “Beethoven for Book Lovers,” and this lovely CD compilation recording has been my mainstay during my journaling, writing, and meditative moments. Then I discovered several other similar compilations, and that is the list that I share with you today.

Here is my list of suggested resources for adding more music to your daily lives:
Again, these are all favorites of mine. These recordings advise us to “set your life to music,” and I have enjoyed doing that with these little collections. If you are looking for some ways to add classical music to your daily listening in an easy and pleasant way, then I recommend that you try out these lovely recording compilations. My students have enjoyed them over the years.

Until next time,

Happy Practicing!

Disclaimer: I do not put advertising on the blog, and currently I do not receive any income from the articles and recordings that I put up on the blog or podcast. That may change in the future, but for now, this is (and always will be) a labor of love for the Suzuki community. However, there will be times when I include a link to a product that I write or talk about. This is never an attempt to sell something; I always promote a product or item that I use and purchase myself. You are never under any obligation to purchase these products, but if you should be in the market to do so, I hope that you will consider purchasing the item through one of my affiliate links. The cost is the same to you, and it will provide a benefit to me that will help to support the blog.
