I do a version of We Wish You A Merry Christmas that follows the same bowing pattern in Minuet No. 3!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6468439890002165895.post-54444579807994202642012-09-16T19:53:51.428-05:002012-09-16T19:53:51.428-05:00Yes, we love that book two. I have a huge folder now of just about everything related to Christmas. I may have to add the Christmas Waltz this year. We particularly love our rendition of the Ukranian "Carol of the Bells." We've written all sorts of parts that incorporate skills that the beginners can play.Paula E. I love the open strings which let even the beginners participate.

And just as a follow-up to your Monday post, I have had a great week focusing on preparation. It went so well that I am going to keep focusing on preparation.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15765622517307104987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6468439890002165895.post-48439394985918375672012-09-15T11:01:09.826-05:002012-09-15T11:01:09.826-05:00Paula, I haven't yet started Christmas tunes i...Paula, I haven't yet started Christmas tunes in September, but... I agree on several points! Last year three of my students played "I saw Three Ships" for an introduction to hooked bowing which they later used in the Happy Farmer. One of my students was at the level of being able to combine reading/ear to play almost all the pieces in Cello Time Christmas, and because he loves Christmas music his practice time increased way beyond what I would have asked of him. The book is also available for violin as "Fiddle Time Christmas" and they include CDs - helpful for those learning by ear and fun to play along with. I presume the violin book is similar... the cello book has a few things with a 2nd part on open strings for very beginners, and includes pieces appropriate for all levels of Suzuki book 1 - all first position. http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Fiddle-Time-Christmas-with-CD/19468137?aff_id=443165Barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18389375377426385825noreply@blogger.com
